Project Porchlight
Be on the lookout for PSE partner Project Porchlight in your neighborhood! In an effort to bring energy efficiency to the masses, PSE is working with Project Porchlight to distribute thousands of free CFL bulbs to communities in its residential electric service area. It’s a fun, grassroots way to connect with each other about energy efficiency!
Project Porchlight will recruit volunteers to help deliver 275,000 energy-saving compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs, courtesy of PSE, in the Puget Sound area. At community events and by going door-to-door, volunteers will be asking residents to install their new CFL bulb to replace an old incandescent bulb in a high-use area of their home, like a porch light. And this is just the beginning of the savings! Volunteers will also help residents learn about more ways to save by participating in a PSE Rock the Bulb Tour – Unplugged event in their local community. Customers can also join the Be an Energy Rock Star Contest for the opportunity to earn points and win a portion of $45,000 in prizes.
How You Can Help
If every home in America installed even just one ENERGY STAR® qualified CFL bulb, the reduction in emissions would be the equivalent of taking 800,000 cars off the road.
CFL bulbs use up to 75 percent less energy than incandescent bulbs to create the same quality light. Save $40 or more in energy costs over the lifetime of a bulb. Install CFL bulbs throughout your home!
